Spend one day unconventionally in Kolkata

Aug'21

we wanted to spend one day in Kolkata, learning something new, doing something which we have never explored. So, on a Saturday drizzling morning we stepped out without an umbrella for a pottery class.

With high expectation ( blame the movies), we entered a beautiful complex called "Art Rickshaw".

the interiors were mesmerizing. you can simply enjoy sitting there for hours

For two people, time slot given was 60 mins at around Rs1000/ head ( I cannot recall the exact price )

We started with the pottery session at around 11am. It was fascinating to see the wheels shaping dirt into something meaningful! almost like the struggles shaping our life

we went with the flow

smudging our hands, face and hair with this captivating clay 😂 the fun part was that

we were enjoying it

Destroying and getting back into track

Final touches

Our very first self made pot wares!!

🙂

Though it was fun 60 mins, we were sorely disappointed when we found that we cannot paint. it will just go into oven as normal clays. we euphoria suffered considerable crash. if they could have added paint and then taken to oven, it would have been complete experience for us.

for one time, you can definitely visit.

It was already 12.15pm and it was pouring hell. outside the rains were creating chaos, inside our hunger pangs. From south kolkata, we went to central kolkata to have korean lunch

Sausage bread ( nope), non veg kimbap ( good)

Fish cake soup ( tastyy)

chou pax ( must have! pack it for home)

red bean bun ( kinda ok )

jjigae

piece of advice- visit parkcircus unit or unit where the owner sits, otherwise you will get pathetic food. don't run for kimchi firedrice or kimchi pancake, not worth it. have tasted much better in siliguri Arirang. the bakery items are outstanding.

After our fill, we walked to Decathlon Shakespeare sarani and our shopping spree

It was unique experience. Though it was exhausting day for us, but we had fun. Our total cost including cabs and food was Rs 2000/ head.

Please carry your own water bottle. Don't litter roads. Be Green.
